A Future Of Zero Waste Fashion

How will the future of fashion be zero-waste? The fashion industry as we know it has become the biggest threat to our environment by causing air pollution, water pollution and much more. The fashion industry has had a water problem which being used by toxic chemicals which reported in 2017, that has filled 32 million olympic sized swimming pools. Roughly around 17% of industrial water pollution has been caused by dyeing to treatment of appeals. (Repetition)

The fashion industry has been addicted to a high-inventory and low-cost setting for the ground work for vast levels of textiles waste such as dyeing and chemical waste. With the fashion industry starting to be aware of the damages they have caused, they are now trying to fix these and come up with solutions to become more sustainable.

One of the ways has become a Zero’ purchase system. The fashion industry produces 10% of all global carbon emissions. Whilst we understand that clothing is essential, millions of items of clothing are thrown away or burned every year. The level of waste caused by clothing isn’t normal. Therefore, we are going to see how it is going to change in the future.

Companies within the fashion industry are going to take calculated risks on what their consumers are going to want to buy and companies are making products which are going to be more sustainable and with longer life cycles. This is something fashion companies have lacked in. The solution of Zero’ purchase may not be in the buying of the product, but in how it is made, especially how companies are being more aware of the process in making a piece of apparel, such as using technology to make products.

We know Zero’ purchase will change the future of fashion because instead of just purchasing new pieces of items, customers could buy something which will have a long life cycle or they can even up-cycle the item. Instead of buying something new every time, you can DIY it and change the piece of item and make it into something else. However, the clothes we choose to wear is a form of how we express ourselves, but what if we can express ourselves without the buying of new clothes every single time.
